New Covers!
keeping your tub hot

Spa LidOne thing that most spa owners take for granted is the hot tub's cover! Most people will diligently ensure the water quality is perfect, follow regular draining and cleaning routines and add the recommended chemicals but how many actually ever check whether the cover is still in good condition?

Surprisingly some people also don't know the important roles that the hot tub covers have.

By not replacing your spa lid when it is old or damaged you could actually be costing yourself more money to run your hot tub.

So what does a spa cover actually do:

  • Keeps the water clean by preventing leaves and other debris from entering the spa
  • Reduces heat loss by insulating the top of the spa and keeping heat inside the spa
  • Reduces chemical loss due to evaporation which helps to keep the water safe
  • Keeps out animals and children when unsupervised, especially if you lock the lid

How do you knew when a cover needs replacing?

The obvious things to look out for are any rips or tears in the vinyl covering, often on the fold is the first place they start to wear out. Secondly has your cover got heavier? If so this means that the foam inside is full of condensation from the steam off the water, this can lead to mould and that in turn to bacteria in the water.

The spa cover is unlikely to last as long as the actual hot tub it is covering but there is no definitive answer as to how often to change it as that depends on how well it is looked after along with the car of the spa.

So if your hot tub is getting old or you notice that the lid is damaged then you need to buy a replacement hot tub cover now!
